쉬지 않고 달리기만 하면 태엽은 언젠가 다 풀리고, 우리는 멈추게 됩니다. 그리고 멈춰 있는 그 시간에 죄책감을 느끼곤 합니다.
하지만 멈춘 시간은 가만히 있는 시간이 아닙니다. 태엽을 감는 시간입니다.
ELASTIC TOY는 이 이야기를 태엽으로 움직이는 장난감 캐릭터들로 전합니다. 제 영상을 보는 동안 당신의 태엽도 조금씩 감기기를 바랍니다.
A wind-up toy moves only when its spring is wound. I believe people are the same.
If we keep running without rest, the spring eventually unwinds and we come to a stop. And in that stillness, we often feel guilty.
But that pause is not idle time. It is the time we spend winding our springs.
ELASTIC TOY tells this story through toy characters set in motion by springs. I hope that as you watch my work, your own spring winds a little, too.

사람마다 저마다의 태엽이 있습니다. 모양도, 색도, 크기도 모두 다릅니다.
바닥에 놓인 수많은 태엽 가운데 당신의 태엽을 찾아 가져가 주세요. 집어 드는 손길도, 그냥 지나치는 발걸음도, 발끝에 스치는 순간도 모두 낯선 존재와 소통하는 한 방식이라고 생각합니다.

Until now, springs have been the engines inside my toys. This time, I take the spring out of the toy and hand it to you.
Everyone carries a wind-up spring of their own, each different in shape, color, and size.
Among the springs scattered on the floor, find the one that feels like yours and take it with you. Picking one up, walking past it, or brushing it with your foot are all ways of connecting with something unfamiliar.
